20th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry

The 20th South Carolina was organized on January 11, 1862 in response to the call for an additional 12,000 troops from South Carolina. Ten companies were formed in the central part of the state and elected officers. The regiment departed for Charleston on January 13th.
